Early life of James Frederick Ingraham III

James Frederick Ingraham III was born and raised in Peabody, Massachusetts. His parents, Marie Julia Linehan and James Frederick Ingraham Jr. welcomed him on December 12, 1925. Ingraham’s paternal grandparents were Irish immigrants. He has three siblings, Virginia, Mary and David. Right after finishing his high school Ingraham III enrolled in the US Navy in 1943. He was 17 at that time.

Ingraham served on the destroyer USS Marshall during World War II. He saw action in the Pacific Theater, including the Battle of Leyte Gulf. He was discharged from the Navy in 1946 with the rank of lieutenant.

After the war, Ingraham III returned to Connecticut. He graduated from the University of Connecticut and earned a Forest Management degree. Right off the bat Ingraham III joined the forest services of the United States but left after a few years. He then started working for Pratt and Whitney, an engine manufacturing company. After working for 30 years, he opened his own car wash in Manchester.

In 1952, Ingraham III married Anne Caroline Kozak. The couple had four children: James Frederick IV, Brooks, Curtis, and Laura. James and his wife were together for 47 years before she took her last breath in 1999. He followed her on his birthday day in 2013. James Frederick Ingraham is buried in Glastonbury, Connecticut.

In her youth, Laura Ingraham was a competitive figure skater. She later attended Dartmouth College, where she was a member of the Delta Delta sorority and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1983. She worked as a speechwriter in the Reagan administration in the late 1980s. In 1995, she published her first book, The Hillary Trap: Looking for Power in All the Wrong Places.

Laura began her broadcasting career as a guest host on The Laura Ingraham Show, a nationally syndicated talk radio show, in 2001.
